The Fire in Our Hearts documentary begins Canadian theatrical release
The award-winning documentary ‘The Fire in Our Hearts’ has launched its Canadian theatrical release. The film, which began production in 2018, chronicles the experiences of the Cheslatta Carrier Nation and residents of Southside, a remote community in northern British Columbia, during a devastating wildfire.
Filmmaker Josias Tschanz describes the project as an eight-year endeavor that captures community-led action, Indigenous sovereignty, and the difficult decisions faced by residents deciding whether to evacuate or defend their homes. Following a successful international film festival run, the documentary is scheduled to screen in several northern B.C. locations, including Vanderhoof, Houston, and Burns Lake, throughout late October and early November.
