The Five Star Weekend series praised as cast builds deep bond; Garner films thanks to Affleck co‑parenting

The Peacock seriesThe Five Star Weekend, adapted from Elin Hilderbrand’s novel, brings together five well‑known actresses—Jennifer Garner, D’Arcy Carden, Chloë Sevigny, Regina Hall and Gemma Chan. None of them had worked together before filming, and they say the lack of prior overlap helped them form a “deep” and effortless bond while shooting on location in Nantucket and Los Angeles. Showrunner Bekah Brunstetter noted that the cast’s real‑life camaraderie mirrored their on‑screen friendships.

Garner’s participation was made possible by co‑parenting arrangements with ex‑husband Ben Affleck. Because the production required a month of filming in Nantucket, Affleck agreed to care for their three children, allowing Garner to travel from Los Angeles. She praised Affleck’s support, saying he is “wonderful” and that the arrangement gave her the freedom to take the role.

The eight‑episode series is now streaming in full on Peacock.
