The Frick Pittsburgh announces 2027 season and expands current exhibit

The Frick Pittsburgh has announced its 2027 exhibition season, which will feature “Soul, Sound and Voice: Watercolors by Jerry Pinkney” from February 6 to May 9. The exhibit showcases nearly 100 watercolors and rare black and white drawings by the late Pennsylvania-based illustrator, whose work included children’s books and commercial art featuring figures like Jimi Hendrix.

Another scheduled 2027 exhibit, “Abstract Expressionists: The Women,” will run from June 12 to September 26, featuring nearly 40 paintings by over 30 artists active between 1936 and 1977, including Helen Frankenthaler and Joan Mitchell. The museum will also present a multimedia show regarding the history of the pearl.

In current programming, the “French Moderns: Matisse, Renoir, Degas” exhibit has been expanded to include three paintings by Claude Monet: “Houses of Parliament, Sunlight Effect,” “Rising Tide at Pourville,” and “Banks of the Seine at Lavacourt.” These additions, including works from the Brooklyn Museum’s collection, are on view through October 11.
