The Game loses appeal in $7.13M sexual battery judgment fight

A California appellate court has upheld a judgment against rapper The Game (Jayceon Taylor), allowing Priscilla Rainey to continue her efforts to collect a $7.13 million verdict. The decision by California’s Second District Court of Appeal rejects Taylor’s attempt to overturn a default judgment, which he had argued was invalid due to issues with how legal notices were served.

The original debt stems from a 2015 incident during the filming of the VH1 program ‘She’s Got Game’. A federal jury found Taylor liable for sexual battery against Rainey, awarding her $1.13 million in compensatory damages and $6 million in punitive damages.

Rainey has spent years pursuing various assets to satisfy the judgment, including control over L.A. Prolific Records and royalties from the album ‘Born 2 Rap’. The latest ruling means collection efforts may potentially extend to income generated by Taylor’s recent release, ‘The Documentary III’.
