The Golden Girls characters return through new mystery book series

The characters from the classic television series ‘The Golden Girls’ are experiencing a literary revival as amateur detectives. Following the passing of the original cast and previous statements from the show’s creator ruling out a television reboot, author Rachel Ekstrom Courage has reimagined Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia in a series of mystery novels.

Courage’s first book, ‘Murder by Cheesecake: A Golden Girls Cozy Mystery’, was released in April 2025, followed by ‘Death on the Lanai’ in June 2026. Both titles became New York Times bestsellers.

The upcoming third installment, ‘Who Ate the Last Slice of Cheesecake?’, is scheduled for release on May 11, 2027. This new entry will deviate from the previous format by offering ten shorter, independent solve-along mysteries accompanied by recipes and an answer key, allowing for a more interactive reading experience.
