The Graph's GRT token rises 25% ahead of query migration
The Graph’s native token, GRT, experienced a price increase of 25.58% following announcements regarding a planned migration of query traffic. The Graph Foundation intends to move query traffic from the Subgraph Studio staging environment to The Graph Network.
The first phase of this transition is scheduled for October 8, 2026, focusing on the BNB Smart Chain and Polygon networks. During this phase, the Subgraph Studio staging environment for these networks will be deprecated. Developers using the staging environment must publish their subgraphs to The Graph Network and update their endpoints by the deadline.
Market activity surged alongside the news, with spot trading volume rising 530.9% to $117.1 million. Derivatives volume saw a significant increase of 892.99%, reaching $150.25 million, while open interest grew by 61.59% to $29.74 million. The migration aims to allow decentralized indexers to process queries and earn fees in GRT, potentially linking network usage more directly to token demand.
