The Guild joins the GraphQL Foundation

The Guild has officially joined the GraphQL Foundation as a member, joining other industry entities such as Facebook, AWS, and Shopify. The move aims to help shape the future of the GraphQL community and open core foundation work to more contributors.

Initial focus areas for The Guild include improving the graphql.org website, which has lacked active maintenance for several years, and upgrading the site using Gatsby. Additionally, the organization intends to address the evolving needs of the graphql-js library, which serves as a foundational engine for many community tools.

As GraphQL APIs become more established, the community is increasingly focusing on open-source security practices. The evolution of the language, from its 2015 release by Facebook to its transition to the Linux Foundation-hosted GraphQL Foundation in 2018, continues to rely on collaborative, open-source development for tools, schema management, and server implementations.
