The Hague celebrates Prinsjesdag with festivals, music and public events

The Dutch capital The Hague is hosting a month‑long "Royal September" programme ahead of Prinsjesdag on 15 September. Activities include a political speech competition, a free musical festival, water‑bike rides on the Hofvijver, a Troonrede bingo based on past speeches, open‑monument days at historic royal buildings and a public salsa workshop after the royal speech.

On the evening of 14 September, the city’s "PrinsjesNach" turns the centre into a free open‑air music trail from Noordeinde to the Bierkade. Artists announced include Cooper, Gerardo Rosales, Zippora and Vos, together with projects by the Residentie Orkest and the Haags Hip‑hop Centrum. Workshops for youth brass music, open‑mic sessions for emerging singer‑songwriters, and collaborations with Writers Unlimited and Festival Klassiek behind the Dunes are also scheduled. The night ends with a "NachMis" – a late‑night ode to democracy featuring performances by Melle de Boer’s ensemble, spoken‑word pieces by Scott Beekhuizen and Laurin Nargy.
