The Hague coalition appoints new aldermen and sets housing and asylum policies

The new governing coalition in The Hague, formed by Hart voor Den Haag, VVD, Denk and the CDA, presented ten alderman (wethouder) candidates. Former locoburgemeester Richard de Mos will return as alderman for economy, international affairs and the South‑West programme and will also serve as locoburgemeester. Other announced aldermen include Arjen Dubbelaar, Ralf Sluijs, Mariëtte van Leeuwen, Isabelle Broeders and several representatives from Denk and the CDA.

The coalition’s agreement, drafted after reviewing the citizen‑sourced Haagse Stadsmanifest, pledges to abandon plans for a large asylum‑seeker centre on the former Haga Hospital site, keep existing asylum locations open and favor smaller, community‑based shelters. It also commits to new senior‑housing projects and to complying with the national dispersal law. On transport, the deal scraps the planned expansion of paid parking in several districts, revises the POET (Parking On Own Terrain) scheme and adds extra parking spaces in high‑pressure neighbourhoods such as Bouwlust and De La Reyweg.
