The Hague court sentences three minors for Malieveld riots

Three minors from Rotterdam, Rhenen, and The Hague have been sentenced by a juvenile court for their involvement in riots at the Malieveld in The Hague in September 2025. The unrest occurred during a demonstration against Dutch asylum policy.

The defendants were involved in violence against Mobile Unit police officers. The 17-year-old from Rotterdam received a 40-hour community service sentence for public violence. A 16-year-old from Rhenen received 70 hours of community service for inciting the crowd and throwing objects at officers. A 16-year-old from The Hague was sentenced to 16 days of juvenile detention, with 14 days suspended, for throwing objects at a water cannon and a police vehicle.

In addition to their sentences, the three youths must pay compensation to the thirteen injured officers. This case is part of a larger legal process following the riots, where 50 out of 54 suspects have been convicted so far.
