Approximately 500 far-right demonstrators gathered at the Malieveld in The Hague to protest against Dutch immigration and asylum policies. The rally, organized by the group ‘Wij Zijn Het Volk’, was intended to include a march through the city, but local authorities banned the procession due to concerns over public order and potential violence.

The situation escalated into violent clashes between protesters and law enforcement. Demonstrators reportedly threw fireworks, smoke bombs, and other projectiles at riot police. In response, police deployed water cannons, baton charges, specialist dogs, and mounted units to disperse the crowd. The city administration implemented an emergency ordinance to grant police additional powers to clear the area.

Justice Minister David van Weel condemned the ‘disgusting scenes,’ noting that participants performed Hitler salutes and shouted antisemitic slogans. Prime Minister Rob Jetten stated that the demonstrators appeared to be deliberately seeking confrontation with the police. Authorities reported 24 arrests for offenses including possession of prohibited weapons and failure to follow emergency orders. All 24 suspects were later released pending further legal proceedings.
