The Hague prepared for Prinsjesdag demonstrations

The Mayor of The Hague, Jan van Zanen, stated that the city is well-prepared for the upcoming Prinsjesdag demonstrations. Describing The Hague as the country’s “demonstration capital,” Van Zanen emphasized that protests are a natural part of Prinsjesdag, which he views as a day of democracy.

Numerous small demonstrations have been registered along the route. Participating groups include Dieren in Nederland, Burgerinitiatief Groningen, the anti-monarchist group Republiek, and The Hague Peace Projects, which will gather at the Lange Voorhout. Additionally, the Algemene Onderwijsbond (AOb) has scheduled a protest near the temporary House of Representatives building.

Regarding potential farmer involvement, Van Zanen distinguished between protesting and blocking roads. He noted that while farmers are welcome to demonstrate, they must leave large machinery at home. While there is currently no confirmed information regarding planned blockades, the municipality remains vigilant.
