Dutch Sports Facilities Compete for 2025 Sustainability Award

The NOC*NSF and the Knowledge Centre for Sport & Movement have announced the five finalists for the 2025 "Sportaccommodatie van het jaar" award. The contenders are Budo Club Lu Gia Jen (The Hague), football club TVC ’28 (Tubbergen), hockey club MHC Nieuwegein, Sportpark Zuid (Aalten) and Sportpark ‘t Doesgoor. All showcase diverse sustainability measures, from heat‑pipes, LED lighting and zero‑gas operation to solar panels, battery storage and biodiversity‑friendly landscaping. The jury, including new members Jeen Visser and Rob van Poelje, will select the winner at a ceremony on 14 May at FC Weesp.

The competition highlights how Dutch sport clubs are integrating climate‑adaptation, social inclusion and circular‑material construction into their facilities, signaling a broader shift toward environmentally responsible sport infrastructure.
