The Headies postpones 18th edition to April 2027

Organisers of The Headies have announced that the 18th edition of the Nigerian music awards has been postponed. The ceremony, originally intended to take place sooner, is now scheduled for April 10 and 11, 2027, in Toronto, Canada.

The decision to move the date is intended to allow for the expansion of activities in both Nigeria and Canada leading up to the main event. Organisers stated that the ‘Road to The Headies’ programme will continue during the period originally set aside for the ceremony.

In an official statement, the organisers apologised to guests who had already made travel arrangements, noting, ‘To guests who have already made travel plans and other arrangements, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience.’ The awards aim to celebrate outstanding contributions to African music.
