The Hen: Hungarian drama by György Pálfi to be released in Japan

The Hungarian film ‘The Hen’, directed by award-winning filmmaker György Pálfi, is set for release in Japan. The human drama follows the journey of a hen that escapes from a transport truck, using the bird's perspective to explore themes of human greed, social injustice, and modern European issues such as migration and poverty.

Notably, the production avoided CGI and special effects for the main film, instead utilizing eight live hens trained by renowned animal trainer Alpád Harash to provide authentic performances. The film has received international acclaim, including a Special Jury Prize at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival.

To promote the release, a CGI short film was released featuring a rooster traveling through Tokyo to reach a theater. Additionally, a special discount is being offered at Cinemart Shinjuku for audience members born in the Year of the Rooster.
