The Herald Leads Australian Kennedy Awards Nominations with 20 Entries

The Herald has secured 20 nominations for the 2026 Kennedy Awards, the highest tally for any Australian news organisation. The nominations span multiple categories, highlighted by the newspaper’s coverage of the Bondi Beach massacre, which killed 15 people during a Hanukkah celebration, earning a finalist spot in the Outstanding Breaking News category.

Photographer Edwina Pickles was nominated for Outstanding News Photography for her images of the attack. Reporters Nigel Gladstone, Lucy Macken, Aisha Dow and the Visual Stories team received nominations for Outstanding Digital Innovation and Consumer Affairs for their investigation into property market underquoting. Other nominees include cartoonists Matt Golding and Cathy Wilcox, investigative reporter Sherryn Groch for exposing the neo‑Nazi and far‑right movement in Australia, and several journalists recognised for portrait, feature writing, and travel writing categories.
