The House on the Moon enters Locarno Film Festival main competition

The Chinese-language sci-fi wuxia film ‘The House on the Moon’ has entered the main competition at the 79th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, competing for the Golden Leopard. It holds the distinction of being the only Chinese-language film in the festival's main competition category.

Directed by Singaporean filmmaker Yang Guo-rui, the production is a cross-border collaboration involving Taiwan and Singapore. Approximately 50% to 60% of the film's scenes were shot at various locations in Taiwan, including Elephant Trunk Rock in Shen'ao, the Buddha's Hand Cave in Keelung, the Guanyin Sand Dunes in Taoyuan, and the Heping Island Geopark. The film features a futuristic lunar world inspired by the myth of Chang'e and Hou Yi.

Lead actors Huang Kuan-chih and Chang Huai-chiu attended the world premiere in Locarno, where they noted the enthusiastic reception from international audiences. The film's post-production, including editing and sound design, was also completed by Taiwanese teams.
