The Kinks: Brothers exhibition fuels talk of a possible Davies brothers reunion

Ray and Dave Davies, the founding brothers of the 1960s British rock group The Kinks, said their relationship has improved while collaborating on the new London exhibition “The Kinks: Brothers.” The show, created with painter Christian Furr, is based on a 1968 passport‑booth photo of the brothers and runs at the Gibson Garage until early September.

In a recent interview with The Times, Dave described the project as “miraculous” and noted that it has helped thaw past tensions. Ray confirmed that he is sitting on a handful of unfinished Kinks songs that feature contributions from Dave and former drummer Mick Avory, and he hopes to complete them. The brothers last performed together onstage in 2015 at London’s Islington Assembly Hall, and they have not ruled out a full reunion, saying “never say never.”

The exhibition and renewed collaboration have sparked speculation among fans and commentators that The Kinks could return to the stage, although no concrete plans have been announced.
