The Last of Us Season 2 features key changes from the game
The second season of the television adaptation of ‘The Last of Us’ introduces several narrative and environmental changes compared to the original video game. One notable shift is the timeline of a sequence where Tommy teaches Ellie long-distance shooting; in the series, this occurs early in the season, whereas the game presents it as a flashback during the Seattle chapters.
The setting has also been altered from the sun-filled Wyoming mountains seen in the game to a snowy winter landscape in the show. Despite this, the show maintains certain core elements, such as the use of the Springfield Armory M1A rifle and the mechanics of sniping.
Other character dynamics have been adjusted, such as Dina’s personality, which is depicted as more brash through her sarcastic interactions with Jesse during a patrol sequence. While the patrol itself closely follows the game's progression, the dialogue and character beats have been modified to fit the show's linear storytelling approach.
