The Last of Us season 3 to shift focus to Abby
Bella Ramsey has confirmed a significant narrative shift for the third season of the HBO series ‘The Last of Us’. During the London Film Festival, Ramsey revealed that her character, Ellie, will take a secondary role to allow Kaitlyn Dever to lead the story as Abby.
This change aligns the television adaptation with the structure of the Naughty Dog video game, ‘The Last of Us Part II’, which utilizes multiple perspectives. The upcoming season is expected to focus on events in Seattle through Abby’s viewpoint. Ramsey expressed enthusiasm for Dever’s performance and noted that the shift has allowed her more time off during the current production cycle.
HBO Max CEO Casey Bloys has suggested that the third season may serve as the series finale, as showrunner Craig Mazin has reportedly designed the story architecture to provide a definitive conclusion. Production for the new episodes is anticipated to continue into 2027.
