The Legend of Zelda franchise sees interest through retro maps and new multiplayer mods
The Legend of Zelda franchise continues to generate interest through both historical retrospectives and modern community innovations. As the series celebrates its 40th anniversary, fans have revisited the original 1986 NES title, which featured an incomplete physical paper map designed for players to complete themselves using pen and paper.
In the modern era, the community is expanding the capabilities of recent titles. A new unofficial multiplayer mod for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, developed by modder Kirbymimi, allows multiple players to explore the world of Hyrule simultaneously. The mod attempts to synchronize complex physics and mechanics, such as the Ultrahand ability, to enable cooperative gameplay in a title originally designed for single players.
