The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time ported to iPhone and iPad via AI

Independent developer Kahris has successfully ported the Nintendo 64 classic, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, to iPhone and iPad using artificial intelligence. By utilizing OpenAI’s Codex 5.6 Sol model, the developer was able to create a version that runs natively on iOS and iPadOS.

Unlike traditional emulation, which mimics hardware through software, this version is a native port. It utilizes the ARM64 architecture and Apple’s Metal technology for graphics, allowing the game to run at 60 FPS with high-resolution widescreen support and touch controls.

The project builds upon the Ship of Harkinian, a long-term effort that spent approximately 21 months reverse-engineering the original game's source code. This foundation allowed the AI to adapt the C-based source code specifically for Apple's mobile hardware.
