Nintendo announces Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2

Nintendo has announced a comprehensive remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, scheduled for global release on November 5, 2026, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement, made during a special 40th-anniversary Nintendo Direct, revealed significant technical and gameplay updates, including modernized graphics, orchestral music, and new mechanics such as manual jumping for Link.

Technical analysis from Digital Foundry indicates the game is expected to run at a stable 60 fps at 1080p resolution on the Switch 2, though experts noted the absence of NVIDIA DLSS technology. The remake also features an expanded map of Hyrule, with some areas appearing larger than the original 1998 N64 version.

To celebrate the franchise, Nintendo is launching several multimedia projects. This includes a global orchestral concert tour starting in Tokyo in January 2027, a live-action feature film titled ‘A Lenda de Zelda’ set for release on April 30, 2027, and a special edition green Nintendo Switch 2 bundle arriving on October 25, 2026.
