The Little Prince: Lessons on friendship and connection

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s classic literary work, ‘The Little Prince’, explores the distinction between mere acquaintances and true friendship. Through the interaction between the protagonist and a fox, the book introduces the concept of ‘taming’ or creating bonds, a process that requires patience and gradual closeness.

A central reflection in the 1943 book states: ‘Men buy things from merchants; but, as there are no merchants of friends, they have no friends.’ This metaphor emphasizes that while products can be purchased ready-made, genuine friendship must be built over time to move beyond being just another person in a crowd.
