The Lord of the Rings: Fate of the Rings of Power

Following the destruction of the One Ring in Peter Jackson’s film trilogy, the remaining 19 Rings of Power undergo varying fates. While Sauron originally forged twenty rings to exert control, the destruction of the Master Ring causes the other rings to lose their primary power.

Of the original distribution—three rings for Elves, seven for Dwarves, and nine for Men—only the three Elven rings remain intact, eventually being taken to Valinor. The rings given to Men fell under Sauron's corruption, while the rings given to Dwarves failed to exert his will, instead fueling greed for wealth. This greed attracted dragons to the Dwarven kingdoms, resulting in four rings being destroyed by dragon fire. Three of the seven Dwarf rings survived, though Sauron eventually reclaimed some.
