The Love Hypothesis film adaptation premieres on Prime Video
The film adaptation of Ali Hazelwood’s bestselling novel, ‘The Love Hypothesis’, premiered on Prime Video on September 23, 2026. Starring Lili Reinhart as PhD student Olive Smith and Tom Bateman as Dr. Adam Carlsen, the romantic comedy follows two scientists who enter a fake dating arrangement that eventually evolves into real feelings.
The story, which originated as a Star Wars fan fiction, is set within the competitive world of academia at Stanford University. The production has garnered attention for Reinhart’s ‘method dressing’ promotional campaign, which featured fashion references to iconic 2000s romantic comedies such as ‘13 Going on 30’ and ‘Miss Congeniality’.
Critics and fans have noted the chemistry between the leads and the film’s ability to blend romantic tropes with academic themes. The adaptation maintains the core elements of the novel, including the ‘fake dating’ premise and the scientific setting, while providing a modern lens for audiences.
