The Mandalorian and Grogu film releases Hutt Twins clip and draws criticism for Family Guy crossover
Lucasfilm released a new clip from the upcoming feature film The Mandalorian and Grogu, showing bounty hunter Din Djarin captured by the Hutt Twins and threatened with a giant dragonsnake. The movie, directed by Jon Favreau and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni, is slated for theatrical release on May 22, 2026.
Disney also posted a short promotional crossover with the animated series Family Guy. The clip places Grogu and the Griffin family together in a comedic baby‑vs‑baby skit that many viewers described as "corporate slop" and criticized for diluting Family Guy’s edgier tone. Reactions ranged from sarcasm about the film’s appeal to disappointment that two major franchises were being used for a marketing stunt. The promotion coincides with additional tie‑ins such as a Burger King menu themed around the film.
Both the new scene and the Family Guy short are part of the wider marketing push ahead of the film’s debut.
