The Mandalorian and Grogu reaches number one on Disney+

The Star Wars film ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ has achieved significant success on Disney+, becoming the number one movie on the streaming platform in 73 countries. This follows a disappointing theatrical release where the film earned approximately $345 million worldwide.

The production, directed by Jon Favreau and starring Pedro Pascal, faced high financial stakes. Disney reportedly invested roughly $165 million in production and $130 million in marketing, totaling a nearly $300 million investment. The theatrical earnings fell short of expectations for a production of this scale and were lower than the $392 million earned by ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’.

Despite the underwhelming box office performance, the film's transition to streaming has provided a second opportunity for the project, which continues the adventures of Din Djarin and Grogu.
