The Mandalorian and Grogu to premiere on Disney+ in September 2026

Disney has officially confirmed that the Star Wars film ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ will premiere on Disney+ on September 2, 2026. Directed by Jon Favreau, the film follows the adventures of Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal, and his apprentice Grogu.

The film follows its theatrical release, which debuted in May 2026. Despite positive critical reception regarding the central characters, the film’s box office performance was noted as underwhelming, grossing approximately $345 million worldwide on a $165 million budget. This marks it as the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars installment since Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012.

In addition to the film, Lucasfilm has announced a LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian animated special for Disney+. While a fourth season of the original television series was previously developed, it was set aside to prioritize the theatrical release of the film.
