The Matrix digital rain code originated from sushi recipes
Simon Whitely, a production designer currently working for the animation studio Animal Logic, has revealed the unexpected origin of the iconic digital rain code from the film ‘The Matrix’.
Whitely stated that the green lines of code were inspired by Japanese sushi recipes. He achieved this effect by scanning his wife’s Japanese cookbook to create the visual foundation for the film’s digital aesthetic.
