The Mission to release first new album in over a decade
British gothic rock band The Mission has announced the release of a new double album, titled Songs For Kith And Kin, scheduled for April 2, 2027, via Cooking Vinyl. The 15-track project marks the group's first studio album since 2016.
The release was originally intended for 2025 but was delayed following open-heart surgery undergone by frontman Wayne Hussey. Hussey noted that the medical experience and current global events heavily influenced the songwriting, with themes ranging from personal health to family and human connections. The album features a diverse sonic palette, including orchestral recordings from Montevideo, sitar, and cinematic arrangements.
To celebrate their 40th anniversary, the band will perform four special shows in London from November 4 to 7, each featuring a different setlist. They are also scheduled to headline the Tomorrow’s Ghosts Festival in Whitby on October 30 and 31.
