The Monkees' 1960s TV Band Legacy Highlighted in New Official Soundtrack

The Monkees were assembled in 1965 through a casting call for a television sitcom about a rock band. The four members—Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork—became a cultural phenomenon, selling over five million copies of their 1967 album *More of the Monkees* and winning two Emmy Awards for their show, which aired from 1966 to 1968.

In 2024 Rhino Records issued *Made For TV: Official Soundtrack to Season One of The Monkees*, a multi‑disc collection produced by Monkees historian Andrew Sandoval. The set includes 14 rare broadcast‑exclusive TV mixes, more than two dozen songs from the first season, and a 10‑episode selection, presented on LP, 2‑CD and Blu‑ray formats with extensive liner notes that detail the band’s early recordings and television episodes.
