Disney reveals ‘The New Simpsons Movie’ title and 2027 release date

Disney has officially revealed details for the long-awaited sequel to the 2007 hit, now titled ‘The New Simpsons Movie’. The announcement was made during the D23 event in Anaheim, where the studio shared a new poster and a first look at animation footage.

The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on September 3, 2027, marking nearly twenty years since the original movie. While the full plot remains under wraps, the footage shown at D23 features a chaotic, baseball-centric sequence involving Homer Simpson and a chase through Springfield, including scenes at a stadium, Moe’s Tavern, and the Duff brewery.

Produced by 20th Century Studios, the project is not intended to be the series finale, as the television show has already been renewed through its 40th season. The announcement includes a nod to the franchise's history, with promotional materials featuring imagery inspired by popular internet memes.
