The North Face Großglockner Ultra‑Trail 2026 Attracts Over 2,400 International Runners

The inaugural 2026 edition of the The North Face Großglockner Ultra‑Trail took place from 23 to 26 July in the high‑alpine region around the Großglockner, drawing more than 2,400 participants from 50 nations. Winners included Austria’s Robert Berger on the marathon distance and Croatia’s Miranda Krekovic on the king’s distance, both completing the 110‑kilometre, 6,500‑metre‑gain course in record times. The event was organised by the Zell am See‑Kaprun tourism board together with VSF, Salty Trailrunning and The North Face as lead sponsor.

In parallel, German outdoor‑gear company KIPRUN launched its new Kipclimb Max trail‑running shoe, designed for steep, technical terrain with reinforced materials, a 5 mm lug‑deep outsole and a rock‑guard. Weighing 285 g for women’s size 38 and 320 g for men’s size 42, the model targets ultratrail athletes seeking stability, protection and responsive cushioning on demanding Alpine trails.
