Surendra Singh Chaudhary receives job offer after solo river cleanup

Surendra Singh Chaudhary, a 21-year-old student from Madhya Pradesh known online as ‘Bittu Tabahi’, has gained international attention for his solo efforts to clean the heavily polluted Ajnar River in the Rajgarh district.

Starting his campaign on January 26, 2026, Chaudhary manually removed plastic waste, algae, and sludge from the river, often working without professional safety gear and facing health risks such as skin infections. His efforts, which involved personal financial investment, have been widely praised by figures including former English cricketer Kevin Pietersen and industrialist Anand Mahindra.

Following the viral success of his cleanup mission, Boyan Slat, the founder and CEO of the Netherlands-based environmental organization The Ocean Cleanup, extended a job offer to Chaudhary, inviting him to work with the organization. Despite the international opportunity, Chaudhary has expressed a desire to continue his work within his home country.
