The Ocean Race Atlantic to sail from New York to Lorient

The inaugural edition of The Ocean Race Atlantic is scheduled to begin on September 1 off the coast of New York. The race features six IMOCA teams utilizing mixed four-person crews, traveling from New York to Lorient, France.

The course is expected to take the fastest vessels just over a week to complete, with an anticipated arrival in Lorient around September 8 or 9. The event will feature a ceremonial start near the Statue of Liberty and the New York skyline before the official race begins later that day.

Participating teams include Team Malizia (Germany), Team Francesca Clapcich Powered by 11th Hour Racing (USA), United by the Ocean (France), DMG MORI Sailing Team (Japan), Embrace The Challenge (Switzerland), and MSIG Europe (New Zealand). For Team Malizia and DMG MORI, the crossing serves as a major test for their new generation of IMOCA vessels.
