The Odyssey achieves record-breaking box office success in Asia

Christopher Nolan’s film ‘The Odyssey’ has achieved significant commercial success across Asia, particularly in South Korea and China. The film, which was shot entirely with IMAX cameras, has surpassed $1.68 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing R-rated film to date.

In South Korea, ‘The Odyssey’ has reached a total gross of approximately $91 million with over 11.2 million admissions. This performance places it as the third-highest-grossing Hollywood film in the country, surpassing titles such as ‘Frozen 2’ and ‘Aladdin,’ and ranking among the top five Hollywood films by total tickets sold.

While the local comedy-drama remake ‘The Intern’ recently led the South Korean box office in ticket admissions during the weekend of September 18–20, ‘The Odyssey’ maintained its dominance in total revenue, generating $2.3 million during that period. In China, the film has reached a cumulative gross of $108.1 million after 38 days.
