The Odyssey IMAX screenings in Las Vegas priced at $51.75 per ticket

Brenden Theatres & IMAX at the Palms, the only Nevada venue capable of projecting authentic IMAX 70mm film, is charging $51.75 for every ticket—including children—to Christopher Nolan’s "The Odyssey." The price is about $24 above the U.S. average for IMAX 70mm showings, and the screenings are sold out through late August. The theater runs six three‑hour shows daily and plans to cut back to four shows after August 14.

Only 41 theaters worldwide can run IMAX 70mm, with 25 located in the United States. IMAX’s senior vice president of post‑production, Bruce Markoe, explains that films "filmed for IMAX" are designed from pre‑production through post‑production for the format’s expanded 1.90:1 aspect ratio, a distinction from movies merely "shot with IMAX" using different camera technologies.
