The Odyssey Sets New South Korean Pre‑Sale Ticket Record, Surpassing Oppenheimer

Christopher Nolan’s new film, The Odyssey, has broken the South Korean pre‑sale ticket record, selling 150,000 tickets ahead of its August 5 release—exceeding the previous benchmark of 139,000 set by Oppenheimer. The achievement was reported by The Chosun and highlights the strong audience enthusiasm for Nolan’s latest project.

Globally, the film has already generated more than US$639.6 million, earned a 97 % Rotten Tomatoes score and an A CinemaScore. Nolan, producer Emma Thomas, and stars Matt Damon and Charlize Theron visited South Korea on August 3 for promotion. The cast also includes Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Zendaya. In Indonesia, The Odyssey attracted over one million viewers within a week, with 1,069,525 ticket admissions recorded by Cinepoint.

The film adapts Homer’s epic about Odysseus’s ten‑year journey home after the Trojan War, blending high‑profile talent with a large‑scale production that continues to dominate box‑office charts in multiple markets.
