The Other Bennet Sister series focuses on Mary Bennet

The BBC period drama ‘The Other Bennet Sister’ is premiering on Sky, offering a new perspective on the world of Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’. The series focuses on Mary Bennet, the often overlooked and studious sister who has historically remained in the shadows of her more prominent siblings.

Based on the novel by Janice Hadlow, the show follows Mary as she navigates the rigid social expectations of the Regency era. After the death of her father and the marriages of her four sisters, Mary seeks to define her own path, eventually traveling to London to work as a governess to avoid a life of dependency.

The first season consists of ten half-hour episodes, with two episodes released weekly over five weeks. A three-part Christmas special is also planned to continue Mary’s story.
