The Pareto Principle and its application in business and economics

The 80/20 Rule, also known as the Pareto Principle, suggests that a minority of causes or participants typically produce the majority of results. Originally observed by Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto regarding land ownership and garden peas, the principle has become a fundamental strategy for entrepreneurs and investors.

In modern economic landscapes, this phenomenon is intensifying through digital platforms. In many sectors, such as search engine results or e-commerce, a small fraction of top performers captures the vast majority of value, creating 'winner-take-most' markets. This dynamic applies to startups, product success, and individual career growth, where a few high-impact opportunities often outweigh the majority of routine activities.
