The musical “The Phantom of the Opera” is celebrating its 40th anniversary since its 1986 London premiere at His Majesty’s Theatre. To mark the milestone, international productions and venues are participating in global celebrations, including a gala performance in London and the release of new music and books.

In Germany, the Musical Dome in Cologne is preparing for the production's premiere on November 15. As part of the anniversary festivities, the iconic Phantom mask is being projected onto the roof of the Musical Dome. Currently, rehearsals for the production are taking place in Düsseldorf at the Capitol-Theater, featuring performers Anton Zetterholm and Lisanne Clémence Veenemann.

Globally, the musical has reached over 160 million people across 54 countries and 23 languages. Additionally, the West End production will be recorded live for an international cinema release in 2027.
