The Reluctant Vampire: New BBC sitcom based on Eric Morecambe books

The Reluctant Vampire is a new six-part BBC sitcom adapted from the 1980s children’s books by the late Eric Morecambe. Written and adapted by Neil and Rob Gibbons, the series expands the original stories into a wider supernatural comedy.

The plot follows Valentine, played by Lenny Rush, a teenage vampire prince who struggles with his identity because he lacks fangs and has a distaste for consuming blood. A central conflict arises when his mother, played by Sian Clifford, reveals that he is actually human, a secret he must keep from his family to ensure his survival. The series features a cast of quirky characters, including his father Victor (Tom Davis) and brother Vernon (Gabriel Nagy), set within a gothic castle inhabited by various supernatural beings such as talking gargoyles and shapeshifters.
