The Report film depicts true story of Guantanamo detainee Mohamedou Ould Slahi

The film ‘The Report’ (Désigné coupable), directed by Kevin Macdonald and starring Tahar Rahim and Jodie Foster, is based on the true story of Mohamedou Ould Slahi. A Mauritanian engineer, Slahi was detained by United States authorities following the September 11 attacks.

Slahi was transferred to the Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba without being charged or receiving a trial. Throughout his detention, he maintained his innocence and sought legal assistance from lawyers Nancy Hollander and Teri Duncan. The narrative highlights the legal struggle to access classified documents and the challenges faced by his defense team in navigating government secrecy.
