The Rolling Stones discuss ‘Foreign Tongues’ album artwork

The Rolling Stones have released their 25th studio album, ‘Foreign Tongues’, accompanied by a special official podcast titled ‘Speaking In Tongues’. In the fifth episode of the podcast, the band discusses the creative process behind the album's provocative cover art.

The artwork was created by artist Nathaniel Mary Quinn. The concept involved fusing the portraits of the three band members—Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood—into a single image. Quinn noted that the background color palette was inspired by the 1978 album ‘Some Girls’. The design was specifically optimized to remain visually striking when viewed on smartphone screens.

The album was recorded in less than a month at Metropolis Studios in West London, produced by Andrew Watt. ‘Foreign Tongues’ features guest appearances from high-profile artists including Paul McCartney, Steve Winwood, Robert Smith of The Cure, and Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
