The Rolling Stones to provide theme song for Japanese film Gate of Murder
The Rolling Stones will provide the theme song for the upcoming Japanese film ‘Gate of Murder’ (Satsujin no Mon), scheduled for release on February 19, 2027. The song, titled ‘Back in Your Life’, is featured on the band’s album ‘Fallin’ Tongues’. This marks the first time a song from a new Rolling Stones album has been used as a theme for a Japanese motion picture.
Directed by Hiro Kanai and starring Kento Yamazaki and Kohei Matsushita, the film is a live-action adaptation of the mystery novel by Keigo Higashino. The story explores a distorted, 30-year friendship and the resulting murderous intent between two characters, Kuramochi and Tajima.
The song is described as an emotional rock ballad written by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and producer Andrew Watt. It focuses on themes of friendship and loss, which producers noted aligns closely with the film’s narrative regarding the complex bond between the protagonists.
