The Rookie Season 8 Premieres on Universal TV with First Prague Mission

The police drama The Rookie returns for its eighth season on Universal TV, debuting on Wednesday, 22 April at 22:20. The new campaign, titled “Xeque‑Mate”, marks the series’ first foray outside Los Angeles, sending LAPD officer John Nolan and teammates to Prague, Czech Republic.

In Prague the team works alongside the FBI and Interpol to carry out an operation aimed at neutralising high‑danger terrorists operating in the United States and abroad. The storyline also reintroduces attorney Monica Stevens and follows personal dilemmas for several characters as the international backdrop expands the show's scale.

Creator Alexi Hawley says the season will test the characters with deeper transformations while maintaining the series’ blend of action, humor and drama.
