Liverpool post-punk band The Room has released their third album, ‘Doom Pop!’, via 9x9 Records. The release marks a significant creative phase for the group following their 2022 reformation.
Originally formed in 1979 by Dave Jackson and Becky Stringer, the band gained recognition through BBC sessions with John Peel and appearances on ‘The Old Grey Whistle Test’. The new lineup includes original members Jackson and Stringer, alongside drummer Clive Thomas, guitarist Darren Brown, and keyboardist Ethan Kyme.
The album is described as a blend of melodic instinct and angular musicianship, exploring the darker aspects of modern life. The release is accompanied by a music video for the title track, ‘The Room’.
