The Royal Parks seeks conservation architect for £6.3m contract

The Royal Parks, the charity managing eight of London’s major green spaces, is seeking a conservation architect for a contract valued at £6.3 million. The role involves providing advisory services and design work for historic assets, including Hyde Park, Regent’s Park, and Richmond Park.

The contract is expected to run from January 4, 2025, until January 3, 2031, with a possible two-year extension to 2033. Responsibilities include conducting condition surveys for nearly 200 listed assets, recommending restoration and maintenance, and managing projects through all RIBA stages. The architect will also provide advice on urgent repairs resulting from damage or vandalism.

Due to the contract value, the appointment will be subject to open competition under the Procurement Act 2023. The selection process will be weighted at 60% for quality and 40% for price, with a deadline for participation requests set for midday on September 9. The contract award is scheduled for December 1.
