The Rustic Fig opens zero-waste wholefoods store in Uralla

The Rustic Fig, a new wholefoods, deli, and low-waste store, celebrated its grand opening in Uralla on Friday, September 18. Approximately 200 people attended the event, which marked the conclusion of an eight-month project to transform a former butcher shop into a sustainable retail space.

Co-owners Felicity Chappel, Jeannette Dunn, and Berdine Warne established the business with a focus on reducing plastic waste and providing locally grown organic produce. The shop operates on a zero-plastics model, utilizing brown paper packaging and string instead of plastic to encourage a different approach to shopping.
